In March, we're march-ing forward!
Throughout the month, we'll be celebrating and highlighting Women in Tech in recognition of International Women's Day on March 8th.
To get the week off to a good start, we have selected two women who have been making strides in the venture capital and artificial intelligence sectors, respectively.
Arlan Hamilton 👩🏻🤝👩🏾
Arlan Hamilton built a venture capital fund from the ground up in 2015, while homeless. A Black woman who identifies as queer, she is the Founder and Managing Partner of Backstage Capital, a fund that is dedicated to minimizing funding disparities in tech by investing in high-potential founders who are people of color, women, and/or LGBT. Backstage has now raised more than $15 million and invested in more than 170 startup companies led by underestimated founders.
Fei-Fei Li 🦾
Fei-Fei Li was born in China into a modest family before moving to the United States at the age of 16, "barely speaking English". A former Google scientist, she now heads the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI, and is the co-founder of AI4ALL, aiming at increasing diversity and inclusion in the AI field. She is committed to harnessing the full potential of AI technology to benefit humanity, to the extent of frequently being referred to as the "godmother" of AI.
